We finally got our cycling holiday to the Outer Hebrides, or Western Isles as they are also known. We had been wanting to go for several years but never had, for one reason or another.
It took some effort to arrange as ScotRail don’t have the easiest booking system. In fact we couldn’t book a return ticket for our Sleeper train from London to Glasgow as they were only taking bookings up to a certain date, and our planned holiday spanned that date. In the end I ended up booking single tickets for the outward journey, and the next day I discovered that they were now taking bookings for our return date, so I booked that - and wrote a letter to complain. Eventually we were refunded £58 - so it just goes to show, it can be worthwhile to complain sometimes…
